'Type 1 conditional' cümlelerde, 'if' cümlesinde 'simple present' kipi, ve temel cümlede ise 'simple future' kipi kullanılır.

Tüm şartlı cümlelerde olduğu gibi, cümlelerin sırası sabit değildir. Cümlelerin yeri değiştirildiğinde zamirleri yeniden düzenleyerek ve noktalama işaretlerini uyarlayarak aynı anlam elde edilebilir.

If Sally is late again I will be mad.
