'Continuous infinitive', sonrasında bir mastar gelmesi zorunlu olan fiillerden sonra, sürekli bir eylemi ifade etmek için kullanılır. 'Continuous infinitive' şu şekilde oluşturulur:
to be + durum ortacı
'Present infinitive'de olduğu gibi, 'continuous infinitive'de fiilin 'zero-infinitive' halinin gerekli olduğu durumlar bulunur, bu yüzden to sözcüğü ihmal edilir. Bu durum en çok zaman kipi belirten yardımcı fiillerden sonra, ve 'zero-infinitive' kullanılan diğer durumlarda meydana gelir.
