The United States is a large country filled with different people and cultures. No matter where you live, you will learn English and encounter welcoming people. We recommend that you apply early if you want to do a region choice.
If you have always dreamed of living in American’s traditional Midwestern “heartland” or in the sunny and friendly South, you can request to do so with our regional choice program. Please note that our regional choice is a request and not a guarantee. If we can not find a suitable match for you in your chosen region we will refund you the regional choice fee and place you in a state outside your preferred region. Here are our different choices of regions:
Western states
New Mexico, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona
From lush forests in Oregon to sunny beaches in California to the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the West is home to some of America’s most striking landscapes and laid back people.
Mountain states
Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Washington
This area is known for its ski resorts and breathtaking views, with pristine nature reserves like Yellowstone National Park. Its cities, such as Denver, are fashionable and attract young people from around the country.
Midwest
South Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma
With Chicago - U.S. President Barack Obama's city of origin - the Great Lakes and a vibrant agricultural industry, this region, known as “the heartland,“ is the ultimate American location. This is where you will see football games, homecoming dances, cheerleaders and American apple pie.
South
Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas
The South is known for its hospitality, music, dancing and cuisine. Because it is sunny and warm, southerners spend much of the year outdoors: sailing, golfing or sipping iced tea on the porch.
