• Two-in-one: Study in two countries during one exchange year

• Private international high schools: EF International Academy
• Short-term program: Study abroad for 3 months (not in all markets)

Two-in-One

This is the perfect way to experience two countries and learn two languages in one exchange year. During your EF High School Year you will spend one semester in the USA and a second semester in France, Germany or Costa Rica. 

Spend your first semester in the USA. Live with a local host family and attend an authentic American high school. Share classes with new friends, take new and exciting subjects, and participate in after-school activities such as the school newspaper, the theatre group, the band and school sports teams. Outside school, spend time with your friends and host family. Go to a baseball game, visit the mall, see a movie or just “hang out.” During your semester in the USA you will experience an energetic culture and the famous American high school spirit.

Then, after spending your first semester in the USA, it’s time to move on to new adventures! For your second semester, you can choose between these countries:

France – The world centre for culture, cuisine and fashion

Germany – Known for its friendly atmosphere, fun festivals, soccer and fascinating history

Costa Rica – Fall in love with this exotic and friendly country while you improve your Spanish

No matter which country you choose, this is your ultimate opportunity to become a genuine “citizen of the world.”

Australia State Choice Program

In addition to our traditional student exchange program in Australia, EF offers a separate program that allows you to choose which state in Australia is best for you. A fee, for school tuition, applies to this program.

With this option, you can choose your state and school district in Australia. EF offers a special package that includes your flight, assistance with application and visa procedures and preparation for your exchange year.

Below are examples of Australian school districts and states are available:

• New South Wales – “The First State”
• South Australia – “The Festival State”

New Zealand School Choice Program

Our New Zealand School Choice program allows you to decide where in New Zealand you want to study and at which school. A fee, for school tuition, applies to this program.

Choose your region and high school for your student exchange in New Zealand. EF offers a special package that includes your flight, assistance with application and visa procedures, and program preparation.

Our school choice program in New Zealand offers the following high schools:

• Western Springs College, Auckland
• Onehunga High School, Auckland
• Taurange Girls School, Tauranga
• William Colenso College, Napier
• Wellington High School, Wellington
• Linwood College, Christchurch
• Logan Park High School, Dunedin
• Mount Aspiring College, Wanaka

Regional Choices

Request where in your destination country you want to spend your student exchange year. Apply early to the program if you are interested in making a regional request.

EF High School Year offers regional choices in the following host countries:

Private International High Schools

Prepare for the world’s top universities at EF International Academy. You can choose a traditional American high school program or the International Baccalaureate Diploma as well as A-level programs.

In addition to the internationally recognized A-level and IB Diploma programs, EF International Academy offers a one-year high school preparation program for students who want to improve their language skills before entering the more challenging high school programs. Students graduating from EF International Academy are guaranteed university placement. Choose between living on campus in student accommodations or with a host family. Program length is 1 to 4 years.

• International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
• A-Level Programme
• High School Preparation Programme: For students who want to improve their language skills before entering any of the challenging high school programs.

Short-term program: Study abroad for 3 months [only for markets offering this option: DE, IT, AUST, NZ]

Go on a student exchange for 3 months. Live with a host family and study at a high school with local students. This program is only available in the following countries:

For students coming from Germany and Italy, the program starts in September or January and is available in the following EF High School Year host countries:
